Art Galleries

Provincetown's love affair with the arts has been notable since Charles Hawthorne founded the art colony in 1899 when we began The Cape Cod School of Art, today the Fine Arts Work Center. Provincetown is the oldest continuous arts colony in the country. Charles Hawthorne is credited with founding the art colony in 1899 when he established The Cape Cod School of Art and worked in the studios that are now part of the Fine Arts Work Center. Provincetown's long history of teaching and exploring the arts continues today. You can explore your artistic side and take classes in painting, sculpture pottery, writing, poetry and drama, and work with some of the world's most renowned artists.

The galleries located throughout Provincetown offer a wide selection of artistic works. There's something for everyone.
