Race Point Lighthouse Is off the beaten path

Looking for something unique to do in Provincetown (even in the off-season)? Take the time to visit the Race Point Lighthouse. A short walk from the fire road at the Cape Cod National Seashore, it's a very rewarding trip. It's a truly unique experience on a road (or trail) less traveled. Visit the Race Point Lighthouse website for more details.

Hike To Clapps Pond »

This is a beautiful wooded walk from Route 6 throughout the conservation land surrounding Clapps Pond. You can access the trail head from Route 6 East. You may see a few cars aside Route 6 near the trail head and the trail head is marked with signs. Clapps Pond is a great place to bring your dog for a long run when visiting Provincetown.

Provincetown breakwater walk to Long Point »

Accessible at the end of Commercial Street by the Provincetown Inn, you can walk the breakwater to the sandbar at the end which leads to Long Point. This walk may look short, but it is deceptive. The trip to Long Point is a very, very long walk. Be prepared! Bring bottled water and on sunny days, be sure to wear light clothing and protection from the sun. The beach on the ocean side of the sandbar is one of the most magnificent in Provincetown. This beach is very flat, has very smooth sand and offers an extremely gradual grade into the water. You can walk out hundreds of feet and still only be waist deep in the water. On a beautiful sunny day, the trip to Long Point can be a wonderful trip and good exercise. If you get tired, when you get to Long Point (during the summer months) you can catch the Flyer's Boat Shuttle which can take you back to the wharf in town or to Flyer's Boat Rental's just off Commercial Street.
